This amulet features a beautiful electroformed May beetle, a Scarab species native to Europe. In ancient Egypt, it was believed that a giant Scarab was the force that moved the sun across the sky, and as revered creatures, Scarabs were often featured in Egyptian amulets. The tradition of wearing adornments featuring insects was thought to have originated in Egypt, a tradition that was later revived in Europe during the Victorian era.

The electroformed Scarab in this amulet is suspended mid flight at the centre of a mandala adorned with Labradorite crystals and a crescent moon. The Scarab has long been associated with change and rebirth.

All electroformed surfaces are coated with a clear sealant to prevent tarnishing and oxidisation.

Measurements:

  • Pendant: 6cm length x 7cm width at widest point

  • Cord: Adjustable kangaroo leather cord (66cm at longest length). The cord features a sliding bead so that the pendant can be worn long or short like a choker.
